I feel so fortunate to be in the field of counseling. I started out in the business world but once I was able, I began my journey to become a psychotherapist. I have been in the field for nearly 20 years and have so many wonderful experiences in those years. I worked seven years in an inpatient psychiatric facility. I also worked in a hospice setting for several years, and juvenile justice for a couple of years. During my career, I have led groups in a partial hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs as a manager, counselor and group leader. During all of these years, I continued to have my private practice and have supervised many interns and trainees over the years.
I am very eclectic when it comes to choosing one theoretical modality as our client population is very diverse. I do come from a developmental orientation with the belief that our environment will either greatly enhance or greatly diminish are ability to live a good, happy, and well-adjusted life. At times, CBT might be the best treatment, other times DBT, Systems Therapy, Gottman, Narrative therapy, EFT, Object Relations, etc., depending upon what the client presents and what would best suit the client.

I view therapy as a collaborative endeavor built upon trust, respect, and an understanding of the client's individuality. I strive to create a safe environment whereby my clients can explore their sense of self freely and without judgment. My theoretical approach is rooted in humanistic and person centered therapy. Every individual is unique and I believe it is important to have an integrated approach to therapy, utilizing various tools as needed.

I graduated from National University with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed my practicum at High Tech Middle School North County in Vista, CA., where I was a Counselor who provided psychotherapy for adolescents and their families.

My theoretical approach is rooted in existential therapy and Gestalt therapy; however, I believe that an integrated approach to therapy is a valuable tool in helping my clients gain a balanced perspective on the life issues they are facing. I also believe humor is a valuable tool in counseling. If a client desires, I will incorporate spirituality into the therapy I provide.

I view therapy as a collaborative, sharing experience and seek to help my clients feel safe, comfortable, and truly understood.
